Thomasian connection in Brunei Darussalam

Thomasian spirit was recently rekindled at the first Thomasian assembly in Brunei Darussalam. It happened last 28th January 2016, in celebration of the feast of Saint Thomas Aquinas, the university’s patron saint. A Eucharistic celebration was held at the Church of Our Lady of Assumption as an expression of reverence and devotion to Saint Thomas Aquinas.

It was celebrated by Reverend Father Arin Sugit, Assistant Parish Priest of our Church of Our Lady of Assumption Parish and Reverend Father Herbie Canete, a visiting Filipino priest from Rogationist Fathers together with a great number of Thomasians.

Dinner followed at the Mangrove Paradise Resort where Thomasians from different parts of the sultanate marveled at their college days at UST. They savored the gift of presence while listening to musical performances from Conservatory of Music alumni.

In attendance was Vice Consul Melvin Almoguera, a Thomasian graduate of A.B. Classical Philosophy with a Master’s Degree, who pledged his support to the Thomasian community. Assistant Professor Fides Maria Lourdes F. Carlos, Director of UST Office of Alumni Relations also graced the event with her ardent encouragement to Thomasians to keep the community spirit by strengthening support to one another. “Aside from being Filipinos, you are talented Thomasians,” she quipped

It was indeed a night of gratitude and a beginning of a strong Thomasian bondage in Brunei Darussalam.
