Chancery ends the year with growing Filipino participation
Participation in the year-end gathering of the Philippine Embassy in Brunei (PEB) has been growing steadily over the past few years. Over 400 Filipinos packed the Embassy, led by different Filipino organizations including the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association in Brunei (USTAAB), to celebrate 2019 Paskong Pinoy sa Pasuguan on the 13th of December 2019.
Commencing the program, His Excellency Ambassador Christopher B. Montero’s delivered his message by taking pride in the various events and projects initiated by the Embassy this year to strengthen support to national services, as well as enhancing political, economic, and cultural international relations with Brunei. He also thanked the Filipino Community for their continued support of the Embassy’s programs and activities. The Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of the Philippines culminated his message by inviting all the PEB staff to sing with him a few Christmas Carols.

To bring more joy and connect with the wonderful traditional celebration of Christmas in the Philippines, USTAAB representatives together with fellow Overseas Filipinos enjoyed the night with plenty of surprises, performances, giveaways and raffle prizes. The event also featured a Parol Making Contest using indigenous or recycled materials adding to the overall festive displays at the Chancery. Four Jollibee mascots appeared on stage before everyone was treated to dinner showcasing a variety of Filipino food dishes.
Expressed Filipino solidarity on this annual occasion showed Christmas spirit that helped OFWs overcome homesickness abroad in celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ.
