Music Camp attracts 24 Filipino young singers
Music Camp for Young Singers of USTAAB attracted 24 Filipino children ages 6-16 to master their voices with singing lessons held at the office of the Filipino Association for 3 consecutive Thursday nights in November 2019. Banking on Teacher Ennali’s expertise in music education and voice, the Thomasian alumni in Brunei organized a Music Camp for Young Singers which aims to offer a free voice lesson as part of their commitment to giving back to the community.
This condensed intensive Music Camp did not just help the campers raise the bar for their singing performances but as well as gain new friendships. The campers’ passion for music could be seen on how they diligently and enthusiastically participated in each session as they did vocal warm-ups and song rehearsal.
Hosted by Leizl Niña Bambao, a talent showcase dubbed as Young Singers’ Music Camp Recital was held at The Capital Residence Suites on 30 November 2019 to culminate the first-time initiative of the association. Voice coaching insights from Teacher Ennali made the campers’ chorale and solo performances commendable and unforgettable. The program was graced by Vice Consul Jaybee B. Arguillas of the Philippine Embassy in Brunei together with the officers of the Filipino Association.
Ms. Lovelle Depala of Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam was also invited to receive the sponsorship of USTAAB and young singers in support of its cultural talent festival on 1st of December 2019. Pusat Ehsan is a non-government, charity organization committed to providing quality education, rehabilitation and training programmes for individuals with special needs. Indeed, the Music Camp paved the way for a back-to-back giving back to the community which is a very timely endeavor for the Christmas season.
Each camper received a certificate of participation and goody bag. All parents were in high spirits and thankful for the Thomasian community because their children were given a rare opportunity to build their self-confidence through singing.
The recital night's success was made possible through the contributions of the following alumni: Lucy, Lynn, Ennali, Theresa, Dominic, and Rhenee (please see photo below from L to R).
